Taxis are available 24/7 everywhere in the city. It is recommended to only hire taxis from an official cab company. They are bright yellow and have a sign on the roof with the word 'Taksi' on it. The taxi plate number and sometimes company logo should be clearly visible on the front doors and the roof. Most importantly, all official taxis have digital meters.
Fees: Ferries 4 TRY, Tour Boats 15 TRY
Time: Ferries 6:00-20:30 daily, Tour Boats 24 hours
About: Boats are one of the best ways to travel in Istanbul. There is a dock in Besiktas, a five minute walk from the hotel, where the traditional ferryboats stop. From this stop, the boats cross to Uskudar and Kadikoy on the Asian side, and go to Eminonu, on the European side. Eminonu is a great place to travel to and explore the Old City.
Bosphorus Tour Boats are also available. For the Northern Bosphorus, walk 25 minutes or take a 10 minute taxi to Ortakoy. You can catch the boats here and enjoy the sights such as the Beylerbayi Palace, Arnavutkoy, the Rumeli Hisari Fortress, the luxurious neighborhood of Bebek, and beautiful Ottoman houses. There are one hour tours from Ortakoy. For the Southern Bosphorus, take a taxi, tram or walk to the Eminou docks. You can catch the boats here and enjoy sights such as the Topkapi Palace, the Maiden's Tower, Dolmabahce Palace and more.
